There’s lots of little mini milestones and links in the chain that build to big skills like crawling and walking. Hip strength is a general ‘link’ that might refer to a few different things like:
- pushing up from the floor into standing (bottom muscles)
- holding our pelvis steady to shift weight for taking steps (side hip muscles) in crawling and walking
- balancing on knees, keeping knees under hips and not falling out of kneeling (inside and outside hip muscles)
- moving up and down from kneeling high to low (bottom muscles)
And more!
Check out this video to get an understanding of how to use a kneeling position to play in a way that builds on these ideas
